Showstopper: Rhea

Urvashi Joneja’s “Away” collection that draws inspiration
from the imagery of flying away and breaking through the glass ceiling. The runway was brightened up with the hues of red, blue,
yellow and purple. However, it was the layering that played the major role in
every ensemble.
Rhea Chakraborty took our heart away with a spectacular
black gown and 3D applique detailing.
DAY 1
Title of the Collection: BYE FELICIA
The collection revolved around drag makeup and gender
neutrality. The menswear ensemble included frills with flowy skirts, cropped
cuts, and big bows. On the other hand, women collection had elements that
showed gender equality of the collection.
DAY 2
Showstopper: Sushmita Sen
RmKV Silks and Sunita Shanker collaborated to chart the
evolution of Kanjeevaram, with their collection comprising of layered
co-ordinates, evoking a sense of culture and origin. Sushmita Sen owned the
ramp as the showstopper of Sunita Shankar's creations.
DAY 2
Title of the Collection: VRIKSH
Actress Rasika Dugal, who will be seen in Nandita Das's
Manto made her debut as a showstopper for an organic fashion label “VRIKSH” that
specializes in handloom textiles created by artists based in Odisha. Gunjan
Jain's "VRIKSH" was focused on experimental drapes and workwear blouses.

Title of the Collection: PLANET POSITIVE
Rajesh Pratap Singh’s “PLANET POSITIVE” collection was
geared towards combining the strengths of Tencel, regarded as one of the
world’s most ecological fibers with traditional textiles such as Chanderi,
Banarasi, Jamdani and hand-block prints.

Showstopper: Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem
Two Point Two is an “AGENDER” brand that hopes to blur the
lines between men’s and women’s fashion. Their clothes can be worn by men and
women irrespective of shape and size.

SmartWater presents "The PLATFORM"
Smartwater, the premium water brand from Coca-Cola India.
“The Platform’ by Smartwater aims to inspire young and
innovative designers of India to think differently and showcase their
creativity at Lakmé Fashion Week.
Designer duo Ishanee Mukherjee and Anirudh Chawla of “POOCHKI”
showcased a line replete with organza, felt and cottons crinkled and crushed to
depict volume. A hand-painted dark cloud print was present through the line-up
of indigo toned clothes and made for a fitting ode to the poem.
Sakshi and Swasti Shah presented their label “SHANTI” at Lakme
Fashion Week. Their collection “Megh-Malhar” is all about discarded fabrics.
The motifs and designs of the ensemble are fused to imitate the texture and
variance of clouds and display the intense mood of the cloud.
Kanika Goyal’s collection of consisted of edgy silhouettes
accented with graphic art.
DAY 3

Showstopper: Karishma Kapoor
The collection features a lot of floral prints and
embroidery in pastel and darker, fiery hues. She presents destination fusion
wear in easy and effortless silhouettes which are feminine and flirty.

Title of the Collection: MILLENNIAL MARARANI
Showstopper: Janhvi Kapoor
“MILLENNIAL MARARANI” was the theme of the evening for
Nachiket Barve who went back in time and rummaged through the wardrobes of
royalty from the 20s and 30s, the collection was an amalgamation of premium
styles with lightweight and fluid outfits, for enhanced comfort- ensembles that
have a rich and decadent look to them but are light and fluid on the body at
the same time. Age-old crafts like beading, applique, resham and Gota
embroidery in floral forms were seen on gowns, lehengas, jackets and long coats
with the colour palette celebrating Rajasthan’s fascination with pink and blue.
DAY 3
Patterns of symmetric lines, sequins and ribbed fabrics
underlined the collection, giving his garments sharp silhouettes and a
futuristic sheen which made the desired impact. Shahid Kapoor and Disha Patani
ended the show on a high note as showstoppers strutting their stuff to music
from a live band and beaming laser lights.

Showstopper: Shruti Haasan
Gujarat's dizzying array of colors became the inspiration
for “RAAS”, Saaksha and Kinni's collection for Lakmé Fashion Week
Winter/Festive 2018. The rustic, earthy flavor of their ensembles was evident
in the voluminous maxi skirts and tops.

Title of the Collection: CHANDNI RAAT
Showstopper: Saiyami Kher
Shimmer and sparkle formed the core of VineetRahul’s “CHANDNI
RAAT”. The delicate tales of their collection were narrated with layers of
Chanderi silks in hues of white, grey and charcoal with intricate hand
embroidery techniques like hand French knots, zardosi, applique and couching.

Designer Name: Anushree Reddy
Title of the Collection: SITARA
Showstopper: Malaika Arora
Fashion veteran Malaika Arora dazzled in a yellow-lime green
lehenga for Anushree Reddy at Lakmé Fashion Week. The hand-dyed organza lehenga
featured zardozi handwork, inspired by the rose motif was the perfect ode to
the Nizami tradition. Anushree's “SITARA” Collection brings together sensual
colors with delicate handcrafted three-dimensional applique flowers,
butterflies, leaves and fictional characters.

Title of the Collection: MERLOT
Showstopper: Nushrat Bharucha
Designers Sonam & Paras Modi of SVA unveiled “MERLOT” for
which Nushrat Bharucha turned showstopper. The spectrum of deep hues of
burgundy, black and beige dominated the collection where mixed metals and fluid
ombres perfectly integrated to offer the best of both worlds.

Title of the Collection: MU’ASIR
Showstopper: Neha Dhupia & Angad Bedi
For her “The Show Stopping Bride” line-up, Payal Singhal
looked at folk art tapestry to create the collection titled, “Mu’asir”. The
concept of one of the oldest hand-crafting techniques in the world grew through
the renaissance period across European countries, with the influence of Persian
artistry. The amalgamation of this was festive-wear with striking
characteristics of thread work with zardozi, appliqué and bead work with frayed
embroidery and accents of various kinds of tassels and edging in an extensive color
palette of neutral tones like grey, ivory along with pastels like rose blush,
mint, sage, cantaloupe, powder blue; bright shades of yellows, corals and
pinks; deeper shades like emerald green, navy blue and deep purple.

Showstopper: Varun Dhawan
Kunal Rawal’s collection was “visualized as a mirror of
chaos that can have numerous unique points of view with an anti-trend approach
and multi-functional designs”. Varun Dhawan walked the ramp for Kunal’s
Collection and he made everyone to stop and stare him for a little longer.
Dressed in a white coat-set, the actor looked dapper as he posed for the
shutterbugs.
DAY 4
Designer Name: Pankaj and Nidhi
Showstopper: Kangana Ranaut
Taking technological inspiration from the newly released
Nokia 6.1 Plus, the designer duo showcased a ready-to-wear collection that
brought together the best of handcrafted and machine-made ensembles. A flurry
of dresses, trousers, tops and gowns came down the runway, with their defining
qualities being specially engineered materials such as patent finish faux
leathers, metallic hyper-twist yarns and graded geometric gemstones. Every detail
was hand applied using technically precise floral and ornamental artworks.
DAY 4

Title of the Collection: METAMORPHOSIS
Showstopper: Jacqueline Fernandez
The idea of evolution played the pivotal role in Ashish N
Soni’s collection, ‘Metamorphosis’, and the designer depicted that through his
clothes and models’ hair. The former walked down the runway as though Siamese
twins, with their locks wound together, only to magically separate through the
gaps of their fingers, depicting how evolution takes place in nature. The
inspirations a variety of shapes, styles and textures were merged to create
singular garments, such as plain cloth with that of tartans and menswear and
women swear paired together. The collection also explored reconfiguration and
the super imposition of patterns that not only created unusual 3D- shapes but
also gave the lines a deeper and intellectual layer.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Soumodeep Dutta
Showstopper: Gurmeet Chaudhary
Dutta looked to the Buddhist philosophy related to the lotus
for his Winter/Festive 2018 collection which was an analogy of contrasting
elements. The flower has its roots in muddy water but rises above the slush to
bloom, clean and fragrant representing a sense of purity and enlightenment.
Accordingly, Dutta’s ensembles featured blacks and grey against reds and
whites on capes, dhoti pants, one-shouldered togas, cholis, ponchos and short
jackets.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Tahweave (brand name)
Showstopper: Kriti Kharbanda
Layering seemed to be the order of the day for designers
Shweta Tania and Priyangsu Maji whose collection took after the arresting Irish
landscapes and the country’s romantic demeanour. Jackets and trenches were part
of every outfit presented while the front and rear overlapping yokes created
interesting silhouettes. Employing natural, hand-woven fabrics like cotton,
sheer silk organza and wool, Tahweave set the perfect tone for pleasant winter
evenings with clothes that both looked and felt snug.

Title of the Collection: THE TWILIGHT ZONE
Showstopper: Aditi Rao Hydari
With a collection that aimed to capture that fleeting
magical moment before day ends and night begins, Jayanti Reddy’s collection
“The Twilight Zone” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018, dazzled the
audience with its high-octane creativity and fashion statements.
Showcasing a strong sense of innovation, the silhouettes
spoke of bewitching and bold reincarnation through intricate embroideries. Each
ensemble carried a sense of freedom and joy and was aimed at the woman who
wants to make a definite style statement.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Punit Balana
Title of the Collection: GULABI CHOWK
Showstopper: Radhika Apte and Jim Sarbh
His collection was called ‘Gulabi Chowk’ which reflected in
the block-printed fabric. In parallel was the dori work motif that was inspired
by the monuments of the historically rich city. The palette boasted pinkish
maroons and grayish blues complemented by egg blue and steel.
DAY 5
Designer Name: AGAMI by Neha Agarwal
Title of the Collection: PUSHTAINI
Showstopper: Kiara Advani
‘Pushtaini’, inspired by the age old art of Madhubani, aims
to merge Indian Art and Fashion into a cohesive approach towards innovation in
surface ornamentation in Agami’s Winter-Festive 2018 collection.
An artisanal mix of the two worlds drives Agami to push
their boundaries in innovation by reinventing zardozi embroidery in
contemporary patterns that gives the wearer a sense of belonging to her
cultural roots. The nuanced art of Madhubani takes center stage in their new
offering; often characterized by complex geometrical patterns and vivid color
palettes, the paintings were traditionally done with twigs and fingers.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Siddhesh Chauhan
Title of the Collection: SAMURAI
Showstopper: Sonu Sood
Textured textile and sharp silhouettes took over the ramp
during Siddhesh Chauhan’s presentation. Inspired by origami and the spirit of
the samurai, he had an array of outfits to offer. Sonu Sood was the true
samurai of the show as he appeared on the ramp with a sword in one hand and
swag that no one can resist.

Designer Name: Disha Patil
Showstopper: Diana Penty
Diana Penty walked the runway for Disha Patil’s show. She looked like an Indian princess dressed in pink with delicate detailing
and off-shoulder cape style sleeves. The collection had pastel tones, perfect
for a day wedding.

Title of the Collection: SUPERNOVA
Showstopper: Lisa Haydon
Lisa Haydon closed the show for Mishru. She looked stunning
in a deep-hued sheer gown with her platinum hair. Just like the supernova
phenomenon, the designer’s ‘Supernova’ collection was full of bling and dazzle.
The color palette was inspired by the different colors of the sky, moving from
dark tones to midnight blue and then soft moonlit hues and shades of dawn.
Delicate embroidery was used with sequins, glass beads and miniature pearls on
luxe fabrics such as georgette, velvet, silk, tulle and lace.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Narendra kumar
Title of the Collection: NEVER HYDE
Showstopper: Shikha Talsania
With a banging start via a rap, the showcase had a live
music going on, while real people walked the ramp in his new collection Never
Hyde, in collaboration with India’s leading Plus Size Store aLL Primero.
Actress Shikha Talsania walked the ramp as a showstopper to conclude this
amazing runway party.

Title of the Collection: ABJINI
Showstopper: Prachi Desai
The collection, ‘Abjini,’ was an ode to the blooming lotus,
which possesses the quality of not only being sublime, unadulterated and
fragile but also resilient and strong. Deeply inspired by vintage book covers
in pretty pastels and delicate detailing, the designs were characterized by
opulent handcrafted lotus motifs. The color story included both pastel and
jewel tones in Indo-western silhouettes.

Showstopper: Sophie Choudry
Arvind’s collection showed a pastel palette on layered
ensembles. Sprinkling his creations with a wide variety of garden blossoms,
Arvind paid particular attention to construction and cuts.

Showstopper: Kalki Koechlin
Gaurav Katta’s fusion line of British Royal era clothing
merged with Rajasthani Royal age murals is a grand offering for his
Winter/Festive 2018 collection. Reams of grayish tones of flowing fabrics were
turned into floor kissing gowns, while tinseled satin, wool and sables added to
the 16th century inspired collection. The embroidery was drenched in gold and
silver zari on luxurious textures like lace, organza, silk, velvet and Georgette. The minute embroidery with sequins, beads and pearls for the floral
motifs, gave the hemlines a glittering image.
DAY 5
Designer Name: Sanjukta Dutta
Title of the Collection: ABOOR
Showstopper: Hema Malini and Esha Deol
Sanjukta Dutta’s love for the Mekhela Chador has been
constant season after season. Her collection Aboor is a stunning display of
Assam’s beloved textiles. Using Assamese silks, saris, lehngas, tops, skirts
and gowns are constructed to highlight the beauty of the fabrics. The
amalgamation of traditional motifs from around India with Assamese silk was the
cynosure of the show.
GRAND FINALE
Designer Name: Monisha Jaising
Title of the Collection: SHADES OF DIVA
Showstopper: Kareena Kapoor Khan
A thrilling performance by the crew members of Cirque du
Soleil started the grand finale. The gear shifted immediately to a glamorous
evening, as the models started walking down the stage towards the head ramp.
Monisha Jaising had a performance planned of her own through her creations. She
showcased her collection, Shades of Diva, through different sequences and with
an elaborate array of silhouettes. The fabrics were rich and jazzy and added to
the grandeur of the finale. As the music switched to cue in the showstopper,
everyone focused their attention on the stage. Kareena Kapoor Khan made an
appearance in an iridescent gown which features beautiful knife pleats. The
criss-cross bodice and flared bottom made it one helluva gown. The show
concluded with a lineup of models and crew members of Cirque du Soleil, with
Monisha and Kareena taking the center stage.
