Rimzim Dadu, who launched her eponymous brand in October
2007, presented an equally wearable but more whimsical collection for spring/summer
season. Iridescent jewel tones and large floral motifs featured for an array of
day-to-evening ensembles. Slip dresses were layered over straight-leg trousers
and shapes were loose yet tailored. The collection was a mix of western wear
and modern-style sarees and Dadu herself closed the show in a color-blocked
shift dress.
Known for her unique interpretation of textiles and her
expertise in changing the very nature of materials, she uses to create new
texture surfaces, Rimzim Dadu is the designer known for using art
installations, technology and craftsmanship to design her shows.
Talking about her latest collection, Rimzim says, ‘My
fascination for textures, material and re-engineering fabrics continue this
season – as I try to explore the relationship between positive and negative
space. The collection draws inspiration from age-old techniques of lace-making
and stenciling in our signature materials like – handmade chiffon cords,
metallic cords and metal wires. The collection explores sculptural forms for
ready to wear clothing using couture-like techniques.
